Getting started
What is Pay by Jag Workspaces?
A business workspace for getting paid and keeping your books. You send invoices, quotes, and payment links, run subscriptions, and manage customers and receipts, with Accounting in the same place. Each Workspace has its own address, such as your-business.paybyjag.com.
Who is it for?
Service businesses, online sellers, agencies that bill for several websites, and nonprofits. If you invoice customers and want your books next to your payments, it is built for you.
How do I get started?
Open Start a workspace, choose a plan and your Workspace address, and pay the first monthly invoice. Your Workspace opens right after payment. From Workspace Overview, complete Stripe payment setup before you send a live invoice.
Do I need a website?
No. You can send invoices and payment links by email or share your hosted checkout page. If you do have a website, connect it with the WordPress, Laravel, or PHP package, or paste the embed snippet.
Do I need my own Stripe account?
You complete Stripe's secure business verification from your Workspace, and your connected Stripe account is set up for you during that flow. Customer payments then settle to that account and pay out to your bank.
Pricing and fees
How much does it cost?
Plans start at $29 per month. Every plan includes the same features and Accounting; higher plans add capacity for websites, prices, invoices, storage, and team members. A 2.5% Pay by Jag transaction fee applies to customer payments, and Stripe charges its own processing fee.
What is the Pay by Jag transaction fee?
It is 2.5% of each customer payment processed through your connected Stripe account. Stripe collects it automatically at payment time, so you never receive a separate bill for it. The rate is the same on every plan.
Do nonprofits pay less?
Yes. Nonprofits pay a 0% Pay by Jag transaction fee. The monthly plan and Stripe's processing fee still apply. The nonprofit selection is an attestation, and a false claim returns the Workspace to the standard fee.
What costs extra?
Stripe processing fees are charged by Stripe. Optional JagAI chat and Tax Copilot use prepaid Workspace credits bought separately. Outside services you choose, such as a filing provider, charge their own fees.
What happens when I reach a plan limit?
Your Workspace shows your usage against each limit. When you reach one, it points you to the Plan page, where an owner can move to a larger plan. We never upgrade you automatically.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Cancelling stops future renewals and keeps your access through the period you already paid for. After access ends, your records and exports are retained, and you can resume by paying the current renewal.
Payments and payouts
Where does my customers' money go?
Straight to your business's Stripe account, then to your bank on Stripe's payout schedule. Pay by Jag never holds your customers' payments in its own account.
Does Pay by Jag store card numbers?
No. Customers enter card details in Stripe's secure payment form. Card numbers never touch Pay by Jag servers.
What do customers see on their card statement?
Your business name, because the payment is processed through your own connected Stripe account.
How do refunds and disputes work?
Owners issue refunds from the original invoice after reviewing the amount. The Disputes page shows each dispute with its deadline so you can prepare accurate evidence before it is due.
Can customers find their own receipts?
Yes. Customers sign in at paybyjag.com/account with the email address on their invoice to see invoices, receipts, and payment status.
Accounting
What does Accounting include?
Every plan includes bank records and reconciliation, daily bookkeeping, a chart of accounts and journals, financial reports, monthly close, tax workpapers, inventory, assets, funds, and data imports and exports.
Does anything post to my books automatically?
No. Suggested entries wait for human review, and opening balances need an approved preview before they post. Your books change only when someone with the right role approves it.
Does Pay by Jag file my taxes?
No. Pay by Jag prepares organized tax workpapers and records for you or your tax professional. It does not file returns on your behalf.
Can my bookkeeper or accountant get access?
Yes. The owner assigns Accounting roles to team members, and outside professionals can be given separately scoped access instead of a full Workspace login.
JagAI
Is JagAI included in my plan?
No. JagAI chat and Tax Copilot are optional and use prepaid Workspace credits, bought separately as one-time packs. You see the cost before each request, and a request that fails or is blocked releases its reserved credits. Your past JagAI history stays readable without credits.
Team, security, and data
Who can access my Workspace?
Only the people you invite. Owners control payment setup, plans, refunds, and roles. Admins run daily sales and ordinary team seats. Staff handle day to day work without refunds or exports. Developers manage websites, integration keys, and webhooks only.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Export customers and invoices from their lists, and use Accounting exports for your books. Exports remain available after a plan ends.
How do I get help?
Every Workspace includes a Help Center with step by step articles. For anything else, open a support ticket and our team replies there.
